Shackles

How much lift can I get out of just shackles? The show truck building guys I know that is how they get most of their lift. But then they also move there spring perches down.

Re: Shackles

with just a shackle, you cant gain any lift. you need a shackle flip, which depending on manufacturer you go with, range from 2.5" to 6".

Re: Shackles

The average front shackle wont bring much if any lift,as said above, you need a shackle flip to raise it up--the back end of the truck.

Re: Shackles

You can gain lift by installing longer front shackles, but your pinion angle is going to suffer badly and you steering is going to be crappy. In the rear, you have to do a shackle flip. If you are going through all that trouble to lift it, I would recommend buying a lift kit.

Re: Shackles

I think if I remeber right on the shackles are a 1/2 to one so if you go 1in longer it will give you 1/2in but then you have the pinnion angle to worry about. the new big lift kits replace the hole hanger and lower the spring mount I think they do this becuse its easyer to ship a 20 in lift spring would be hard to ship.

Re: Shackles

I believe Off Road Design has the shackle flips, you can get them in 2.5-4" lifts.
