The info you need is stamped on the axle tube about 4 or 5 inches from the inside. Seems like it is one the drivers side. There is a website with a decoder, but I have lost the link. If I find it soon, I'll post it.

Do you have the VIN from the vehicle that the frame came from? If you do, I could have my dad run it through the computer at work and see what the stock rear end was(assuming this is the stock rear end).

All of the the no's I have found were on the pass. side tube 4" to 5" out from the center housing. They are stamped on the tube down from the top a little bit to the front side. They are hard to find sometimes because they are not stamped very deep. Wire brush usually does it. Good luck.

i allready looked there, my frame was cleaned to bare metal then painted, so i know it isnt hiding under any dirt, and i dont have like an inch of paint on it so its gotta be hiding somewhere else.... maybe an 85 rear end is different...?

Interesting, American Classic shows for trucks to 87 but only decodes to 72.

I have heard of people putting sawdust in a rearend. Maybe you could try peanuts. I'll bet those sweet Honey Roasted kind would put that hamster on a sugar rush. Hang on! LOL
