Garage find (sort of)

I will have pics soon! I was driving down the street that my father in law lives on in Discovery Bay ca. and two doors down I see a clean 69-72 sitting in the corner of a 3 car garage that I had no idea about. I only could see enough to tell it was a short fleet and lowered a bit. I get back from teh take out food run and head right over and knock on the door and a 35-40yr old guy answers. I intro duce my self and mention I saw a truck in his garage and ask about it. He is quick to ask me in and we head right to the garage. Their sits a super clean 69 swb on bags and what looks like 17" nitro's. He has had this truck for 5yrs and bought it from his friend who has dah it for 10yrs before that. It is a california "rust free" truck and I did give it a good look over. It has teh original 350 and turbo 350 boyh with about 150k on them. Says it runs real good and does not drip oil. It has PS and PB, 5 lug disk up front, Tach, Oil, Vac, Speedo, Alt, Engine temp and fuel and all work perfect. Super clean interior and exterior. Exterior is two tone yellow and white with full body trim. All teh body panels are original to the and it has never been in a wreck. Bags are ART but he does not have a on board compressor so it is just done by schrader valves The bed is in great shape and does have a vynal cover the bed with snaps down the side's.
The only thing I could see that needs to be done to this truck is add A/C and an ART ride pro system to it and you would be ready to show and get in teh mags, it is that nice!
When I asked him what his plans are for it he paused before saying he did not know right now. He is moving and the new house does not have a garage to keep it in. Says it has never spent a night out in 15yrs and has only been cought in the rain once in the last 5yrs. If he can not find a place to keep it that he trusts he said he will sell it

I told him to e-mail me some pics and contact info he has to sell it and just pics if he keeps it so I can show my bud's one bad a$$ truck. He said he will send pics ether way and he will know in a few days if he is going to sell it or not. I asked him what he felt ti was worth and he said he would have to get $15,000 for it. I feel it is worth atleast that if not about 5K more.

Hope to have pics soon and if it does go up for sale I will post it here in teh for sale section to try and keep it here in the family! I would also be willing to do a full check out for any board member who might be interested in it but is out of the area.

Re: Garage find (sort of)

Sounds like a nice find. Sometimes I wonder if I should have bought a finished or near finished truck. That's what I was looking for when I came across my basketcase for about 1/2 the price of the new parts that came with it.

Good luck in scoring it if he decides to sell.

That would be a good one to buy.I had to go the ground-up route. But,I had alot of parts already.Buying a clean one all together is a smart way to go.Even if you want to make personal changes.

Re: Garage find (sort of)

Heck I am trying to scale down on my toys for now so even if he decides to sell I will not be looking to buy. But I will be more than happy to pass it along here. But you are all thinking what I am in the fact that you could not even build one like this for anywhere near the price.
