mirror coordinates

I am installing the rectangle shaped outside mirrors on my 72 truck. Can someone give me some meaurements or photos of where they should be located???

We use the gasket as a template and center it on the flat part of the door where the mirrors are mounted, (like whybynu's truck) and measure from the front edge of the door to the gasket. On the left side, (drivers side) the measurement is 6 to 6-1/8". On the passengers side the measurement is 8".

We also use the gasket for the hole locations and drill 5/16 holes for the mounting screws which screw into the mounting plate. This gives you some adjustment room to make sure the mirror is square.
