Re: Picture of V43 rear step bumper
can't help you out with the bumper on a 71, but here's the one I removed from my truck...... it's a V43 option code step bumper.

Re: Picture of V43 rear step bumper
The diamond is stock on them. I have a yard full of them that came on these trucks! All of the V43 trucks (stepper and fleets) have rounded edges on the bumpers. I have 2 trucks that have V38 bumpers that look like the v43 bumpers, except they are square on the on corner. The first is a V43 step bumper, the second is V43 fleet bumper (with homemade reciever hitch the PO put on), the third is the square corner of the V38 bumper, and the forth is the rounded corner on the V43 bumper.

Re: Picture of V43 rear step bumper
so thats what you call them. i looked all over for a good v 43 . they all seem to be rusted through around here. i found one tha isn't but soon will be, it's swolen pretty good on the top on the corners but will have to do for now. they are a very heavy duty unit

Re: Picture of V43 rear step bumper
Yes my bumper is a real v43 is I compare to your picture. But the diamont is rusted, is it possible to cut and weld an other to keep the truck original.

Re: Picture of V43 rear step bumper
Possibly, but it would probably be much easier to get another bumper. Most people take these bumpers off and replace them with sport bumpers.

Re: Picture of V43 rear step bumper
I for one would love to have one of those stepside step bumpers. My truck was optioned with one, but it was long gone when I got the truck.

Re: Picture of V43 rear step bumper
Check the SPID inside your glovebox, and let me know what it says. That is the bumper I want for my 67 C-30.

Re: Picture of V43 rear step bumper
Ryan`s is aftermarket.I forget the company.The`72s had a different step bumper. They were 4" tall like the V43 but were stamped like the`73-up 8" tall bumpers. These can be fixed by grinding/cutting out the diamond plate and replacing. They are tossed all the time and heavy to ship.I`d hang onto any good one that came my way.Guys are overlooking/tossing these as well as other original parts to make way for "flavor of the day" mods that suit their needs at the moment. No,these aren`t $100,000 muscle cars, but originality wins out in the long run and matters. Ther`s plenty to hack up,but an all original stands out everytime.

Anyone seen a bumper quite like this? Notice the slots for the tow chains... |
