panHARD to get off bar

Hi Guys,
I am in the process of removing the rear from under my truck. Any suggestions on the easiest way to remove the panhard bar? Rear jacked up rear down. I got the nut off the stud with the use of a 5' cheater bar on my ratchet and the same for the bolt and nut on the other end. I hit my head once and gave myself a fat lip and almost knocked out my front teeth. I need help before I hurt myself seriously. Thanks, Rich

Front teeth---ok its when you get to the back teeth that the problem gets real...grin.

Re: panHARD to get off bar

i like to do it frame jacked up remove ubolts from trailing arms with tires on the ground everything else brake lines cablews drivshaft disconnected so only panhard is connected and torch the rubber bushings or if i'm going to be lowering vehicle will just hack the bar with a sawzall

before starting tho i take out my dentures so i dont break teeth

Re: panHARD to get off bar

I just finished doing this myself on my 70 model. its a real pain in the ass. I eventually got the stupid thing off after probably a good 8 hours of work trying to save the bushings I finally got mad and smokewrenched thebushings out then pulled the bar, the collar on the inside of the bushings was seized on the shaft and I had to run a air chisel down the split in the bushing to break it loose. dont do all the work I did trying to save it just buy new bushings!

FLAME. lite it on fire! Just like the trailing arm bushings, these things have been on there for 35 plus years, I think they are stuck.

Re: panHARD to get off bar

Thanks guys, I used all your input. No teeth missing and the bar is off. Good old smoke wrench, and new bushings are on the list. Thanks again. This board is great. Later, Rich
