lets build a rolling chasis
I have a 67 c-10 lwb and have been doin this then doin that but its time to take it to a local shop and get all the mechanics perfect then bring it home and do the cosmetics.
what Iam beggining with 67 lwb frame front and rear converted to 5 lug alledgedly from an 86 camaro the rear end and front clip? But my brake booster is from an 81 chevy p/u. rear suspension is stock new 350 with flatheads z-28 valve train standard machine shop rebuild and 298 cam. elbebrock afb 750, new 700r-4 rci aluminum fuel cell my problems with the truck: the steering is to loose the stance is to high all the bushings are shot the engine bay is a mess want firmer shifts basically just help me build a frame and drivetrain that will make my truck go stop handle and look good. I am on a budget of about 6000 and have been lookin into the cpp lines air ride, tci etc just post up what yall think and links or pat numbers would be appreciated. thanks blake |

Re: lets build a rolling chasis
i was thinkin somewhat of the same thing like doing the cpp grandslam, doing a body mount poly kit, poly bushing kit, disk brakes all around, posi gears out back, b&m shift kit, new exhaust, electric fans and aluminum radiator, what is your input on that?

Re: lets build a rolling chasis
Sounds like a well thought out plan. It would definitely make in a "whole nuther truck" in terms of driving it. I'm just not personally familiar with the ccp stuff, although I've heard nothing but good things about it.

Re: lets build a rolling chasis
It sounds like your $6,000 will go fast with what you want to do...air ride,TCI trans...I`m not sure what you have for suspension now,Camaro front end? And,that`s too high?Maybe start with another frame. You may find a lowered rolling frame like I did for $1,000.It had the brakes and suspension rebuilt. With $4,000 into it,I have a rebuilt 327 and Muncie M22 w/new clutch.I`ll spend about $1,000 on the rear (3.42 gears) and driveshaft.By the time I have my headers and exhaust routed I`ll be at about $6,000 and ready to start setting sheetmetal on the frame.Uhhh...gotta come up with another $6,000 somewhere. It all comes together somehow.
