I am almost done with the truck. Motor is in and running. New summit mufflers will go on next week. I ripped factory rubber mat and the original carpet looks good. I will keep outside and inside stock. Wood in the bed is original and missing some bolts. Should I try and fix original wood or get a new kit? I am afraid that a new wood will not match the truck. Where is a good place to get hood hinges? Any recomendations on the trailer hitch? I am trying to keep factory bumber. Old motor, radiator and some rims in the back yard will go to a reycler for gas money. I am getting a new heater box. PO decided to cut the heater box to replace a heater core. So far I am still under $2k. I am using what ever I have left over from old projects. Maybe 2 more weeks and I can get it insured and drive it.

GM hood hinges.I know Tim Christian has them there may be other places closer.I have never met anyone who was happy with the repops even though they are cheaper.Bed wood is an easy subject.Either replace it all or none.You will not be able to match it.If you want it to look original you will need a good wood finisher.
Truck looks very nice and should be a fun ride.

I have lots of good used hinges if need them. Cool engine swap. If you don't already have it, I have every Pontiac head casting numbers and block codes from 1955-1979 on my website here. http://bassettracing.cz28.com/custom3.html

Thanks for the help guys. Hopefully I will be able to pull a car trailer with this. I am tired of asking my buddy with f350 to tow the car for me. I also think that it doesnt look right when ford is towing a GM car. This site has helped me a lot with this truck. Anyone local to me can have the old motor. Thanks

I would return the mufflers, the only 3 ppl I know to have ever run them complained about having to replace them every year.

Hey that is a nice looking truck, keep the original wood, looks classic, just use a good sealer over the existing wood.

I got my hood hinges from truckandcarshop.com. They are located in Orange CA. I had them installed for over 5years and I have had no problems. I got my hidden receiver hitch kit from Earyleclassic.com.

I agree with 72ArmySWBTruck - I would give the original wood floor a good sanding and seal 'em. They look to be in good shape.
