'66 fender emblems on '71 truck

I bought a set of '66 "10" emblems a while ago from Brothers and finally got around to installing them. First I got a set of '65 emblems but the curvatures didn't match the fenders at the locations I wanted to mount them (the curvature on the emblems was too extreme). As you can see, the curvature of the '66 emblem matches pretty well.

Re: '66 fender emblems on '71 truck

Here are the measurements I used. The left-hand dimension is to the rear fender edge. Vertically, I measured 9 1/4 "from the top edge of the lower trim molding, but my "Pep-Boys Special" trim is not in the correct location.

Nice touch.The`65s mount up on the cowl which is why they are so curved.I had an idea to use another Chevy emblem(not sayin`)and never did it,yet.Waiting for the right build(doin`a GMC now).

Re: '66 fender emblems on '71 truck

Thanks for the props. I think the RHS emblem slopes down toward the front a little, but the LHS one is pretty level. I like the colors in the older emblems. I wanted to put a red '67/68 bowtie on the grille, but it wouldn't fit so I'm going with a '69/70 blue bowtie on the hood. I also have some blue accents inside, with the horn button and a blue-on-chrome ('67/68?) glove box emblem, and I think I'm going to try to paint red bowties on the wheel centers. The truck is a bit of a Frankenburb, with a '70 grille and bowtie, '66 emblems and '71 everything-else. I've got fog lights mounted in the parklight locations in the '71 bumper and I have a set of driving lights I'm going to mount on a Westin Safari light bar. I mocked it up when I had the '71 grille on and it looked pretty good. I'll post some pics later.
