new member, old K/5
hello to everyone, Thought I might finally stand up and be noticed,, been lurking and reading for almost a year now,, I have a sorted history with my 71 K/5, it sat behind the barn while I served in the Marine corps in the mid 80's to early 90's, durring that time someone stole the seats,, I tinkered with it replacing the rot in the tub only to sell it to a friend who did some suspension work then let it sit for 7 years in his garage. after a little trade with his wife, I now have it back, and am getting ready to pick up where I left off,, I have read the posts on the repop sheet metal,, and don't want to fight with trying to tweak and fit poor quality panels,,, so expect me to ask before I buy!! doors, fenders, inner fenders, and rad support are where I'm starting. I see some of the board members have access to these parts,, I will be in contact!!! any outfitters I should steer clear of though??? I have heard LMC is on the cheap flimsy side, and I can understand that,, II have dealt with one of their other companies dealing in my British car....
thanks for the help!!! Bear :O)

Re: new member, old K/5
ok,,,, more pics!! and history,, after I did all the rust replacement on the tub and sold it to my friend, he proceeded to coat the whole inside with RED lava liner, and paint the dash white and red!! TERRIBLE!!! he had some idea of painting it appliance white with red rally stripes,,, umm,,, I'm keeping the blue!!! a ford bench seat slides around to sit on at the moment.. (we found some restored seats and tracks on line, so I was given permission to purchase them!! LOL!!) the rear bumper I installed back in 93,, came off my friends 91 burb,,, tires installed last week ( toyo mt's 35x13.5) wheels were today.... I have a doner pickup with a very nice running 396 to go in this fall, when that happens I will be replacing everything from the doors forward. the bottoms are rotted out of the doors and fenders, and the rad support is pretty bad also,,,, so the fun begins!!! I can't wait!!!
thanks for the warm welcome, I will be a supporter by weeks end!! Bear :O)

Re: new member, old K/5
WELCOME!!!Has your friend ever worked on carnival trucks or shriner cars?Who doesn`t like that blue?I guess some can`t see through the oldness and can`t envision it fresh.Of course, the dash was the closest you`ll get.
Have fun with it.

Welcome from just down the road (well maybe slightly more than just down the road.) Nice looking truck, especially once the red & white issue is fixed.
