What is an N.O.S. front CHROME bumper "still in the box" for the 67-70 Chevy truck worth??? I have found one............but the guy wants a lot!!
Your opinion is greatly needed and appreciated!

I like NOS parts. BUT, when you can buy new aftermarket ones that are of better quality anyway. For less than $100, I wouldnt even consider paying a ton of money for it.

I agree with Mike. The difference between NOS and aftermarket bumpers are not enough to justify high $$$ for the NOS. REal nice aftermarket are availabe for under $125. all over and some with 5 year guarantee!! Huck

With the lifetime guarantee bumpers available now I would go for the aftermarket. Thats just not because we sell them.LOL

You guys can't be serious can you? put an aftermarket bumper on the ground next to a nos bumper and you'll see the difference! pick both bumpers up,put them on a scale and weigh them you'll see a difference! Put both on the vehicle and you'll see the difference. Oh yeah,one last test,drive 'em for 2 years in all weather and then you'll see the difference!
You're trying to compare apples to oranges.
Yes most people would be content with spending $100 on an a/m bumper and be very happy with it,I've put 100's on over the years(on all makes/models) but there is still no comparison between the 2. sorry this is so long just clarifying my opinion.
Do you need the nos? probably not,will the a/m be good enough,maybe.But better quality? OUCH-

How much is tooooo much to spend on an "ORIGINAL"????

I have never seen an "aftermarket" front bumper.......only original "OLD" used ones. Are the aftermarkets ones this bad or good? The guy wants enough $$$$ that I could buy 3 "after market" ones for.

I usually demand N.O.S. for all other parts (sheet metal, gauges, interior, MLDGS, etc....), but I am not sure on bumpers???

How different are they??

What should I do??????

2 to 3 times reproduction cost would be my max price. IMO it would be well worth it. Every time I look at the front of my suburban I notice that the bumper is 1/2" closer to the grill right at the center than anywhere else. Just not enough curvature in the aftermarket bumpers.

I agree with the 2-3 time cost. If you are demanding NOS on all your other parts you will regret getting a/m. My truck is restored but NOT to original so I can get away with a/m and very happy. I just got 2 a/m bumpers from Ryan Church and they look perfect. $200 for the pair delivered to the door!

When I bought my 72 stepside from the second owner, he had just taken the perfect, PAINTED, original bumpers off and replaced them for aftermarket chrome ones. In the deal I got the original bumpers with the truck, when I got home I imediately put the originals back on the truck and gave the chrome ones to a freind . When you set an original GM bumper beside an aftermarket there ARE small differences. The originals are heavier (thicker material), the indentations around the bolt holes, the holes for the front plate are slightly different, the lines outlining the flat area on the front are much sharper on the GM, more rounded on the aftermarket. Maybe I am too picky, but when it comes down to quality it has to be original or NOS. I have aftermarkets on my driver, but have the originals on the restored.

I thinking buy reading these replys that there is more than one manufactuer of a/m bumpers....one good one bad. I have an aftermarket on my GMC and I don't think the pickyest SOB on the planet could tell it from an original.

690ldie, If the guy is real high check into getting an original GM bumper rechromed. There are some places that offer a lifetime guarantee on the chrome. Check around because some places are cheaper than others.

I have been doing collision repair for several years professionally and I too have had my run ins with aftermarket parts. I bought a NOS 71-72 bumper for my 71 and bought a TRI-Plus bumper for my 67 from LMC(forgive me for I have sinned) it was $139.xx. I am more that pleased with it. Chrome is flawless fit was EXCELLENT and it is just cleaner looking than the NOS bumper as in smooth edges and not so many waves and ripples. For what its worth the Tri-plus bumpers are good quality in my opinion. And just as heavy and thick.

If its still in the original and mint condition I would say $225-$275.These kind of questions are hard to answer.I paid $150 for my front and $250 for my rear.I prefer GM parts but everybody has there own opinions.Offer what you think its worth to you and go from there.
