Autometer gauge senders (what ohms for coolant temp?)

My new coolant temp guage is reading low. I know this because my stat is 180 and the temp never gets past 160, but it worked great with the mechanical gauge I had before.

What ohms is the sending unit supposed to put out for a given temperature? Is it the same as the ohms from ford, chevy, etc?

I can't find this info anywhere and I need it to figure out if its the guage or sender that's bad.

Only other possibility is the brass bushing (adapter) the sender threads into is some how insulating it from the coolant temp, or trapping a little bubble of air in there.

Re: Autometer gauge senders (what ohms for coolant temp?)

I had a similar problem with my stock gauges.

I'm not sure this is right but i think they should be about 90 ohms ??? That sound right.

I'll look it up ....

Did you ever change your gages out?

I put in 4 autometer guages and they blend in very well with the stock dash. The lighting and lettering looks exactly the same. And they've got numbers! No dummy gages for me. I should post a pic.

Now if only the numbers were accurate.
