pic requests or ideas....

the number one complaint i have about my truck is the seat is so high, and the steering wheel is so close to my chest... im almost thinking about rigging some honda civic seats in there or something.... so im wondering if anyone has some pics of various seat modifications?...or common mods that people do to the seat..

Re: pic requests or ideas....

I actually like how my seats are, then again they are some buckets of unknown origin so it is more than likely my ass is in a different location than if riding on a stock bench seat. How tall are you?

Tilt column would help if you don't have one.

Re: pic requests or ideas....

That would be Cadillac tilt and telescopic and I don't think it would work in a truck. I maybe totally wrong about it not working though.

Mid 70's vettes had an optional tilt/tele wheel too. I'm betting that it wouldn't be all that hard to mix-master parts from a stock truck tilt with that of a Cad tilt/tele and make it work. From the tilt/tele mechanism down they are very similar. They might differ in length and style of connection at the steering gear but that wouldn't be too hard to overcome.

You don't have to run the ugly cad wheel either. LeCarra sells a new billet syle of column sleve for the tele portion that you would bolt one of their steering wheels directly to. They have a slot in the side for the locking arm for the tele mechanism. The did have a couple of different lengths, one I used before was too short and exposed a 3/4" gap when the tele was all the way out.

That being said, I'm not sure a tele column would help if his complaint is the seat is too high already. A tele column doesn't slide in closer to the dash than the stock column would have the wheel setting at.

Re: pic requests or ideas....

Those Bravada seats look nice. I'm thinking a seat swap would be a lot easier than messing with the column.

In my 78 I had a small Grant Formula GT wheel which was pretty small and gave me more than enough room. The previous owner of the truck installed it, he was over 6' tall.

Man, that is a clean truck. Nice work, did you do it all yourself?
What size wheels you running? They almost look like the size I am running on my 76 (22's).
