67 GMC Grill Test Fit
Got one of the repro 67 GMC Grills looks great but it does not fit well at the lower fender area. Anyone have any experience with the GMC Grills.
Thanks

Re: 67 GMC Grill Test Fit
Well I will have to resize the side shots to show the gap between the grill and the fenders.

Re: 67 GMC Grill Test Fit
I had trouble getting my factory 67 grill to fit nice with the repo fenders. I just had to settle to be as close as it was going to get. Your new grill looks AMAZING! I'm sold - I'm ordering myself one very soon now...

Andrew
I see your problem but I think it won't be noticeable when you install your bumper. That is if your talking about the driver's side gap between the lower grille to the lower fender spacing. Here is a picture of my 67 GMC before it was tore down. By the way your GMC looks awesome. Mark

Re: 67 GMC Grill Test Fit
Mark look like you have a very nice and soild GMC also. Also here are a few pictures of the problem areas this happens on both sides, not for sure if the grill at this point will be covered by the bumper. It will cost me $900.00 to chrome my orignal grill and I really don't want to do that.

Re: 67 GMC Grill Test Fit
For what its worth, I went out and looked at the 2 GMC parts trucks I have here, and neither of them fit flush at the bottom. These are both unwrecked factory trucks. The chrome bezel on the 69-72's does a lot to hide it, but they do have a gap. It may not be quite as large as your's but it definiteley there and noticeable, but only if you are looking for it. Here's the one with trim taken off.

Re: 67 GMC Grill Test Fit
Andrew
I have this truck partialy tore down for the cab and front sheet metal on my 67 Chevy 4x4 project. I traded Joe this chrome grille and top bar a couple years back. IT was pretty cherry for an original. Truck has 60k miles and garaged since new. I still have the Custom side badges on the fenders and the Custom GMC horn cap. I believe all the nice original GMC dash trim too. You are going to have to check this all out. Mark

Re: 67 GMC Grill Test Fit
Wow the pictures just came up of your grille. Yeah that is not good up by the headlights. That original grille fit like a glove everywhere. I even notice possibly that it has some issues lining up across the top painted metal bar for gaps too?

Re: 67 GMC Grill Test Fit
andrew,
does the grill hit the fender on the back side or is it just the bolts holding it out away at the bottom. if its just the bolts i would push the grill back and if it wont go back i would slot the holes so it will. that front bottom line will not matter as it is covered by the bumper. you must remeber though if it is hitting the fender on the back side and you slot the holes they probably wont take the grill back... |

Re: 67 GMC Grill Test Fit
57 it is hitting the fender and not allowing the grill to sit flush. I'm debating returning it.

Re: 67 GMC Grill Test Fit
One problem that might happen if you slot the lower bolt holes and bring the lower edge of the grille in past the edges of the fenders is that the headlight bezels are going to move to. The bezels might not be even with the headlights. My repro. grille isn't hitting the front edges of the fenders, but it is out a bit more on the bottom than the top. BTW- you got a V-6 in that truck?
