Smile New Pics - 10/12/07

I stopped by a place today that is very near and dear to heart and snapped a few more pics of my 69 C/10. I played baseball, soccer, and football in this park when I was a kid, and it brings back nothing but good memories. I just walked around reminiscing after I snapped the shots. The old park was built in 1925 and they were actually talking about tearing it down when I was still a kid and build a new complex. When I was a kid, I was disappointed they didn't build the new old, but boy am I glad they didn't now! I love this old place.
Even though the sun was a little too much to my back, I still think these are the best pics I've done far. Hope ya'll enjoy!

Good job dude. They are getting better. Do you have any editing software? I think some the haze can be cleared up.

Yes, it was to my left in the pictures, but I had to turn the truck that way to any kind of a decent shot.

Thanks for the tips on the editing software. Just taking out that slight haze makes them look much better!

I used Dell Image Expert to clean up the haze. It's a trial version that came with my computer. It doesn't do much, but the "Quick Fix" feature works great for dark or hazy pictures.

The background clean up I did with Paintshop Pro. It a limited version of Paintshop but it great for simple edit features like cut-n-paste, or air brush for fixin back grounds.

Nothing fancy, and all of it was free. It won't do layers, etc like Photoshop, but it was free. Did I mention that I like free stuff...

Re: New Pics - 10/12/07

I took some more today, but I waited too late in the evening. We took the kids to playground today, and my fumblefarted around too long yakking with her sister!
These were taken at the old Valley Chevrolet dealership building, where my truck was bought new. The building is owned by a construction company, and old showroom is now the company gym! At least its still there though, and not torn down like most are. I'll be coming back here later to get better ones.

I did a little See Ten-style antiquing on a few of them!

LOL! She's not too shabby!

I added some signage to one of the pics. I have no idea what it would have looked like then, but this looks pretty cool, IMO. Any of you photoshop gurus wanna Photoshop a '69 Chevelle or Camaro in the showroom?

I totally agree!

I ran across some pics of the old ball park in the first pics before it was restored. I wish I knew how old these pics were. I found out that this is a called a clapboard style grandstand. It is the only remaining grandstand of its kind in the state of Alabama. It has an extensive, early baseball history that saw local teams produce major league baseball players during the 1920's and 1930's. It was restored in 1991 and repainted white trimmed in green, its original color.

I'm not sure if it is or not. I think that picture is at different angle because I see the street lamp sticking out. I can defintely tell the fence my truck is sitting beside is not there, and the handrail on the steps going into the grandstand is not there. I'm pretty sure that second fence was there when I was kid, so I'm thinking these pics are at least pre 1982.
