I'm having some problems installing power steeing on my 70 GMC. It has a 350 with a long water pump but as you can see from the pictures the pulley on the pump would line up dead center of the two groove crank oulley. I haven't located the correct crank pulley as yet the line up doesn't seem right. The pump is from a70 Chev but my moter is a 73. Would it best to try and find a crank pulley,water pump pulley and power steering pump all from the same vehicle rather piecing it together. Thanks for any help !!

get a double belt pulley for the crank

If you can't find a 2-groove crank pulley that works, get the long waterpump (73+) bracket set for the steering pump. Everything will match then. It will mount the p.s. pump higher up on the block.

I know I need a double pulley on the crank but what I saying is the pump pulley would line up dead center of the two grooves on the crank pulley.

Don't think so. Look at what you have now the alternator lines up with the power steering pump. The new crank pulley would let alll three line up.

If someone has the measurements for the double or triple pulley I'll look in my goodie box - I have a ton of these and I'd get one out to 70 GMC gratis

You definitely need a double or tripple crank pulley to add Power steering but it still wont line up untill you have the PS pump that goes with the long water pump. 1st pic is an example of a motor I pulled where the guy has long pump with with same ps pump as you. he has triple pulley on the crank but still wont line up. second pic is motor in my truck with long pump w/correct ps pump for long water pump.

Thank you very much for the info, thought I had something wrong. Made a call and think I might have lined up the correct pump, any idea what years of trucks would work for this project. Thanks again

I'm running a PS pump from a 78 camaro, because, it mounts like the older "keyed" pumps, but uses the newer press on pulley.

think i got both the pump, and the OE pulley from autozone for under $40 total.

ok from what i understand from seeing your pics is that your trying to run a saginaw power steering pump with a long water pump and passenger side alternator. The saginaw pumps were usually used with short water pumps and drivers side aternator with a different style pulley on the crank to match the short water pump, alternator, and power steering pump. The easiest way i could see to fix your problem is to go to the junkyard and find the other style pump(i believe its borg warner) that is made to work with your long water pump and it will line right up. Make sure to get the brackets with it also. Just my $.02

Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
