What did you get done? 10/14

I was on call this weekend but still managed to do a couple of truck related things. I ran calls Saturday, then worked on cleaning my 77 that afternoon. I hadn't touched it since I got caught in the rain two weeks ago.

I pulled all the wheels and hit them with my Powerball. I cleaned the undercarriage a little, but that's going to require pressure washing and detailing later.

Sunday I got up early and put a coat of Meguiers Quick Wax on it, cleaned the interior a little and headed out to a local swap meet and forum get together.

Mike (Backyard 88) organized a Houston area meet and greet for today at a local swap meet. We had a special area set aside for us by Steve (STP67-72) near the vendors entrance.

I lost count of how many members were there, but it was a good turn out. The weather was great for a walk in the swap meet and I managed to score a couple of goodies. Pics below

Thanks to Mike and his lovely wife Melissa for organizing this meet. Special thanks to Steve (STP67-72) and his wife Susan for giving us an area to meet in.

Y'all all rock....

Here's a list of who was there today quoted from papawswrench post over here- Link

Backyard88 - Mike Owen, wife Melissa, and son Matthew
Dads'sredwagon - Todd DeLoach
N2truxs - Ken
Stp67-72 - Steve Lowery , Guy who puts on the swap meets
Cameeks - Chris Meeks and wife Kim
CST10 - Doug Schultz
JorgensenSC - Shawn Jorgensen
HtownpapiJC - J Garcia
Papawswrench - Noel Hankamer
Noel's friend, Don Burkhart

Re: What did you get done? 10/14

Sold a 77 lwb drivers bed side with no fuel hole almost perfect to streetstar on Saturday morning. He was from somewhere in Oklahoma and his wife wanted him to go to the Texas State Fair. He said if he could pick up this bed side from texassquarebodies he would go. So he went, and got a bed side also. He also picked up a blazer inside spare tire holder. I did not know he wanted this but he saw it and had to have it. I'll post pics soon...

I finally got off my azz and wired the silverstars in my Jeep to relays. Using the diagram that has been posted on here quite a few times made the job easy, I don't know who the original poster was but thanks a bunch !!!

Oh, It also got a wash/wax job as well....

Re: What did you get done? 10/14

Saturday I washed my truck for the first time in the almost 6 years I've owned it (no use polishing a turd, ya know). It actually turned out better than I expected. I dropped by and hooked up with a few board members at a cruise-in in Nashville on Saturday evening. Here's the thread and photos:

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=254372&page=3

It was good to meet a few folks from the board there, including Igotachevyor2, 5150, and Ron 586.

On the way there I dropped by the Nashville Pull-A-Part out of curiosity, and walked around for a bit to have a looksee. Most everything was pretty stripped, but they had a lot of stuff there.

Today (Sunday) is my birthday, and I haven't done squat. It's been great.

Re: What did you get done? 10/14

my wife and i had been away for a week or so and we returned last wednesday. On the way in we picked up inner wheel wells from Jon at Tri Pro automotive in South Plainfield NJ and the cab support. by friday i got an inspection for the truck and we drove to one of my other buddies junkyards and looked around. The owner previous to the guy i bought the truck from had allegedly removed the drip rails from our beast and the PO never put them back on, so i went and scored a set of them. Note to those fooling with drip rails.. they look like 1/4" screws but in reality they are 7mm and that doesnt match up with any standard size, so i wound up taking them off with a crescent wrench and my fingers which was a real PITA. using the 7 mm combination wrench putting them on was cake. I cleaned up the truck some, removing the seat cover and then we drove it around some. I gotta say i forgot how sexy my wife looks driving a pickup truck.
My son changed the oil and filter on the truck and we made some plans to get plugs and one of them nice air cleaners to put on it,
I bought a couple of rattle bombs to spray the inner wheel wells ( Metallic black) and next weekend we plan on installing them as well as the new left fender and dash pad i have to pick up from dave (crossy) this week
In addition i went into my exes garage and found some brand new tail lights with the chrome wrapping , a set of white interior trim and a couple of radios and i brought them home
my wife and i have been discussing what colors we wanna do the truck in and i think im resigned to the fact that once this truck is done im gonna have to fight her to pry her rump out from behind that steering wheel lol

Re: What did you get done? 10/14

The wife was out of town for the weekend so I got a lot done. I basically been living in the garage since Thursday. Pretty much spent all day Saturday wrenching on my dads 1995 Cadillac Fleetwood. Had to reline all 4 corners with new brakes, service the trans, replace the front shocks, thermostat, plugs, serp belt, and fix the HVAC blend door motor. Had to bust out the hot wrench to get the front shocks off. What a PITA!

Spent Sunday afternoon ripping apart the NP205 from my ’78 K10 to fix all the darn leaks. Also mowed the grass and shot at rabbits and prairie dogs from the garage door with a .22. Enjoyed several adult beverages as well.

Re: What did you get done? 10/14

Well I got no work done on any of my trucks, well truck and project frame. BUT I did work on the father-in-law's 83 GMC LWB. He just spend around 7000$ on it. It was going in for a paint job, and ended up replacing the cab, doors, and tailgate.

The shop he had the work done at are complete idiots. He got the truck back and the gauge cluster doesn't light up anymore, the gas gauge doesn't work, it always reads over full, the interior lights will not shut off when you close the door, and they couldn't even re-connect the stereo.

They also screwed up his CD player by leaving it in when they sandblasted it.

So today I went with him and bought a new head unit and some 4" to replace his Boston Acoustics that are blown in the dash.

Not only do I have to re-install his system now, I also have to go through his entire dash wiring and re-wire a bunch of it. I noticed they put a bunch of wires together in the dash with Marettes. I couldn't believe it. I wish I was there to shoot them. Good thing he is no longer going to drive it in the winter so I have time to tear it apart and get it done properly.

One good thing is that he has a posi rear installed cause he used to drive that truck in the winter and it helped him to get up his driveway, but now he is not driving it in the winter, he wants his open diff back in. So If he does that, I get his posi rear end. Not sure the gear ratio yet, but I know I will be doing the swap probably this winter or next.

Re: What did you get done? 10/14

Well, the weekend was off to a good start Friday. I was all excited. I went home after work and threw my bag in my truck for the weekend. They were having the fall festival and car show in my mom's little town and I was taking the truck to put it in the car show. On the way there only about 25 minutes from the house I was involed in a 3 car pile up. Of course it wasn't my fault and I was the very last car to get hit. It wasn't very pretty for the 2 cars behind me. A total ot 3 fire trucks, 2 ambulences and about six cop cars showed up. What a way to start the weekend right? So I now need to deal with the insurance companies. Any suggestions or advice on how to handle them? Here are the pictures of the truck. The bed hit the cab on both sides, the tailgate, rollpan, and the strip that holds the wood will need to be replaced.

OUCH! That sucks.
I suggest you get 3 estimates from reputable body shops. Do not allow them to tell you who should fix it. What insurance company do you have to deal with?

Make sure whoever they send to appraise the dammage to your truck realizes that it's a restored classic, not just an "old" truck.
My father and brother had to deal with this last July. Luckily the insurance adjuster realized the value in the trucks, and adjusted accordingly. Best of luck to you.

Re: What did you get done? 10/14

Jimmy: Put all the new TBI fuel lines in and found I am going to have to move the y-pipe, no big deal as the one on there is crap. Started looking for some good used 350 Injectors so I can put them in the TPI for cranking. Secured the EFI sending unit with Vette pump in the tank. Getting ready to put the plug in the 9th injector hole.

Crew: got new carpet put in, trying to get it all straight before I put the interior back in. Started searching why the interior lights don't work nor the reverse lights.

00 Silverado: Started putting a 2/4 drop kit on my brothers Silverado. Got to the front and ran out of daylight, hopefully he is finishing it today.

Re: What did you get done? 10/14

Man that sucks when your truck gets torn up. I feel for you. I had $1,040 worth of damage done to my 2003 Silverado on July 5 so I know how it feels.

Im not going to write a book this week Ken! LOL All I really got done was to paint 1/2 of my garage floor with Quickrete gray epoxy floor paint. I ran out of flakes for the paint before I got done, so I had to open the second box to get the second jar of flakes out to finish up the first 1/2 of my garage. Couldn't paint it all at once because I've got way too much truck parts and tools in my way.

Moved everything to one side, painted that 1/2. Should be cured enough by Wednesday to move everything over to the painted side to start prepping it for paint. I'm shooting for the end of the week to paint the other side. Then I have to finish painting the front wall, and my garage makeover will be complete.

Getting the deck stained and sealed, and getting the garage done are high priorities for me before the weather starts getting bad. I already have the deck done, and I'm halfway done on the garage floor. Can't wait to get it finished! It will be nice to have a neat clean garage again! ...Joe
