key question
I looked in the ownes manual, and it says nothing about this.
Does the tail gate use the ignition key? I can't even get my key in the lock. I probably need a new key set anyways, do they make anything for the tail gate? |

On my wifes 72 Suburban one did it all,doors,ignition and liftgate(my Blazer was this way too until I had to rekey). I too had a problem with the liftgate lock. When I took the liftgate handle to the locksmith for rekey he found an original key end broken off in the lock! We used this to make keys that actually work in all of the locks.

I dont think that they make anything lock wise for the doors or the gate. The tail gate button is some what similar to the push button on the 60-66 trucks door handle. It could possibly work.

Thats the only key I got with the burb Andy. Centsless is correct on how they work. Course why wouldn't he be, he just tried it out for you...

I had some trouble with mine, too. I took it apart and cleaned it up (not as scary as it sounds) and now it works great. When I got it apart, it wasn't difficult to see what the problem was. I can't remember if i used wd-40 or graphite inside. probably wd-40.

i tried squirting PB Blaster in it, can't take it apart though since I can't turn the key.

You should be able to get it out from the inside, then pry the button cover off of the cast housing. Then just clean everything and adjust all of the little springs. Good luck.
