How rare is this truck?

I've been looking for a 68 chevy front end to put with my 69 cab. While searching, I found a 1968 CST C-10 with a turbo 400 and a 396. The whole truck is in great condition. I'm wondering would it be wrong to take parts off this truck or should I just find another for parts. I guessing the truck doesn't run as it's been sitting for a couple of years. Does anyone know the rarity and estimated value of this truck? Another question, What is the horsepower and torque for this factory motor? Thanks for your help.

If it's a whole truck in good shape, I say leave it. Why part out a good truck to save a builder? As for the rarity? IDK.

My only problem with leaving it alone is I really want a shortbed. I have no problem taking parts off it if its not a rare or sought after truck, but if it's worth something I'll leave it alone. Longbeds are OK but I have a brand new SWB and painted frame that I would desperatly like to finish and the CST hait has all the parts I need to complete it. Sometimes maybe it's just better to not find other trucks to work on!!! My wifes gonna kill me...

Going home with another project are we? The wifes going beat you...lol. I think I remember the 396's being about 370 to 375 horseys but don't hold me on that. I'm also thinking that the older cars/truck engines where based at rearwheel hp and not flywheel hp like the newer cars/trucks correct me if I'm wrong guys but that means the 396 I'm thinking if its 370 or 375 that means to your stock size wheels/tires and gears thats what hp it is back there.

'68 was the first year for the 396 in these trucks and it was listed at 325 gross hp @ 4800 rpm, 220 net hp at 4200 rpm. Net is more what you would see in the truck under actual conditions. Gross HP "in the day" was achieved with cold air inlet, no air cleaner, no parasitic loads on the engine, negative pressure on the exhaust and every favorable condtion they could achieve on the dyno. I don't even think they ran a water pump during those tests...LOL!
