finally puttin up a few pics
I've been a member here since '01 and I don't think I've ever put up any pics of my truck. It's a 69 stepside. Originally light green and 6 cyl/standard. That got pulled quick and sold. Now I have a freshly machined 40 over 350 with performer intake, rv cam and rebuilt quad, T350 trans and 4:10 posi. 5 lug conversion. It's now an air cab with uncut dash. Most of the body work is done on this half. Still have the bed to start on. Have had the paint in my closet for a long, long time. Maybe I'll be smellin some paint before too long.

Re: finally puttin up a few pics
Not going back light green Earl. I have a nice pearl purple mixed up for it. Extra metallic, bb/cc. This will be my first bb/cc job. I've used mostly acrylic laquer and ac enamel.
I've been enjoying all of my fellow board members builds for a long time and this summer I have been getting serious about mine again. I just burned out there for a long time and let it sit. Heck, I am ready to drive it. Can hardly wait. I may not wait to get the bed on it, just hang some tailights on the ends of the frame and head out! Whadaya think? I seriously need to upsize my pics too don't I?

Re: finally puttin up a few pics
Okay, Jim.....tell me how to put pix in my posts.
I need to rebuild an engine, too. What all did you do to yours? I can't help but feel that you've already told us, but CRS has kicked in.

Re: finally puttin up a few pics
Hey brutha D. Pic posting? You can post pics saved on your computer but they will only be seen by others when your puter is turned on. Otherwise we'll see the dreaded [COLOR="Red"]red X [COLOR="red"].
Many of us use picture hosting sites. I use Webshots, it is free as are some others. Once you start a post go to your Webshots or whatever and open the pic you wish to include in your post and follow the menu there. 'Shots gives options to link to your pics. You can post just the link to click on to view the pic or you can attach the URL of the pic and the pic appears in the post. There may be easier to use pic hosting sites out there. I found this one and haven't tried anything else. After posting these pics I see I should have increased the size of them for easier viewing although just clicking on each pic will upsize them. I'm a noob pic poster too. This engine is actually the second one I bought used. The first one was an 88 350 truck engine but was hurt. Smoked awful. Had been overheated and stuck rings and cracked the block. So I bought another block and had an engine builder in Heber Springs do his stuff on it. Bored 40, RV cam, comp set at 9to1, heads done. Using the 88 heads with Edel performer intake and quadrajet carb, headers and some temporary F'masters on it. I think I got out cheap at just over $1,000 for the engine work. It's tight and ready to rumble.

Re: finally puttin up a few pics
Drman. Starburst metallic blue sounds sharp. Kinda Nova, Chevelleish maybe? Fleetside? You are at the painting stage now? Doing it yourself?
I'll also be happy to get this one on the road although I am a long way from that still. But everything we do to them gets us just that much closer to road ready.

Re: finally puttin up a few pics
Hey,
It's a darker blue...a bit darker than the indigo blue found on 97-98 Chevy trucks. Mine is a fleet, and yes I'm doing the work myself. Lately I've been filling trim holes and doing filler work...very fun. I did the drivetrain first also. I'm 40 over with flat tops, 487 heads, and a Comp 268. Performer EPS and 1406. In front of a TH350. |
