Big Block motor mounts ... TH400 tranny ... better radiator(just my .02).

You will need new exhaust of course ...well headers at least.

Many people run into firewall issues, but some don't. Some beat the firewall in for clearance, others move the engine forward a bit. The 4x4 subforum has some posts on this. I choose to modify my firewall and I added a body lift to fit my bbc.

Re: Big Block Engine Swap

I put a 454 in my 72
The SBC engine mounts will work with a BBC.
The bell bolt patters are the same between SBC & BBC but I wouldn't recomend a TH350 behind a 454, a TH400 is a much better match.
I have a SM465 manual so I don't know anything about autos.
Other than the firewall issue and header fitment issues the 454 is a bolt in affair.
Oh and swapping a 3core rad for a 4core is needed too.
I left out alot more info on how I did it but my swap was not basic but a BBC will drop right in for the most part.

I used a stock style oilpan that has internal 'tray' 'flaps', my engine builder buddy recomended that type for off-road to prevent oil sloshing and starving the oil pump in off camber situations.
If you do go with a manual tranny I recomend the SM465\NP205 combo, strong and hell and very reliable.
