pulling motor?/block drain bolt

before pulling the motor do I need to drain the atifreeze from the block? Where is the drain bolt typically located on the block? thanks......rick

On my v8 small block I have one plug on each side of the block.
It can be used by a temp sensor, if you unscrew those plugs most of the fluid will be gone.

If you are going to tear apart the engine, that will help evacuate the heads, and eliminate a possible mess

yep, and on putting it back together, you can actually install a petcock to where you can drain it when ever you are doing a drain/flush of the cooling system.
if you remove the plug/bolt and nothing somes out, poke the hole with a small screwdriver.

thanks! the motor I am pulling is a 305 so i am not going to tear into it. replacing it with a 350.

Then i wouldn't worry about it, unless you plan on standing the motor on end.
