I had some time to get the braided hoses on today.

BraBra - Zoops website is www.zoops.com. They don't list the hose kit on their site but they do have the pump and the remote resevoir (catch can).

Ron - The radiator hold downs aren't chrome. They are silver. The pic makes them look shiney.

I don't want to be a pessimist but please check the pressure rating of the hoses and fittings for the power steering. Normally externally braided hose and screw on fittings are maxed at 1500psi. Power steering often operates at 2000psi, that is why stock hoses are swaged on at the ends. The return side will not be a problem. Very nice set-up though, I like the remote reservoir. I am saving for a 502 and am very jealous. Where did you get the headers?

Yukon - I put 2 electric fans with a thermostatic control in the head set at 185 degrees.

Jhow66 - Unfortunately I haven't heard it run yet. I am waiting on my paint and body man to finish so I put it back together and fire it up.

68racer - The hoses are Aeroquip and are rated for power sterring. Once I put the fittings on I took them to MoonRiver Hot Rods and had them pressure tested.

Aeroquip is a reputable hose manufacture that specializes in aircraft hoses for specfic applications used alot in military aircraft applications. Very expensive & reliable company. Wouldn't be afraid if they rated them at 2,000 psi. Most likely those hoses are rated at 3,800 psi.

68racer - I got the headers through AutoZone. They don't stock them but they can have them in a couple of days. They are Dynomax and you have to grind the flanges in order for them to fit because the head bolts are taller than previous 502 heads.

Most pressurized fittings and hoses use a 3 to 1 safety factor rating (some are even 4 to 1). In other words, if it is rated at 1,500 psi ... then they usually will not fail until 4,500 psi.

NOTICE: I said usually ... that means under Normal Operating Conditions.

To clarify,

Aeroquip Racing Hose (FC333) has a working pressure of 1000psi and a burst pressure of 6000psi in dash 6 size. They do not list this product as suitable for power steering. This is the product normally used for fuel systems on racing cars. This has the red and blue fittings.

Aeroquip TFE racing hose (2807) has a teflon construction and has a working pressure of 2500psi and a burst pressure of 10000psi in dash 6. It is listed as suitable for power steering. Fittings are normally silver.

Externally both products look the same with a stainless overbraid.

Also suitable for power steering is Aeroquip AQP High Pressure. This looks like a standard power steering hose and uses crimp on fittings.

If FC333 Racing Hose is used on a power steering system it will work but it is operating outside the safety zone.

Damn nice chassis.
