myself, I'd just repair it, clean it up, put a dana rear in it so you can get rid of the 4.10 gears (IIRC, that's be 4.10, if not, then it's worse with a 4.56 gears) and use it as a beater.
You tried swappin out the points? That may well be the rough running problem.
I'd just swap over to HEI personally.
RUM OUT in the carb, new plugs and wires with the HEI, and a new fuel filter.... if it hasn't sat too long, then just dump some fresh fuel on top of the old, but if it's been more than a year, I'd probably drain it out.
