Re: nostalgic trucks...lets see em.

these trucks never had white walls on em,so that wouldnt be all that "nastalgic". white walls are for cruiser type pre 60s Cars , i hate white walls on these trucks. its horendious!

Re: nostalgic trucks...lets see em.

They could come with the thinner white walls. I used to agree with you on the use of wide whites. But there have been a few Ive seen lately with the wide whites that looked pretty good.

I was thinking more on the line of photos from '67-'73. What they were building (driving) at that time?

Re: nostalgic trucks...lets see em.

Sorry if i worded this wrong. It's just when i think of nostalgic i think of something that has some hotrod flair. And when i think of hotrods white walls automatically come to mind.

I'm in the "it looks like ass" crowd.

So, just park it out front with the keys, title, and signed bill of sale in the glove box, and I'll be happy to come by and "dispose" of it for you. No need to thank me, I'm just that nice!!!

Re: nostalgic trucks...lets see em.

We can do it how we like. But,when it comes to nostalgia with 67-72s you need to be from that era. These things just ain`t`50s nostalgic. The whole thing with being nostalgic is about being period-correct.It`s use what they had up to that point and/or what they were currently doing.Maybe 5 years ahead, like later in the`70s.There were guy`s lost in the`50s in the`70s,but they were "out of it",so to speak. They were more "trucker-style" guys out there doing trucks than greasers, though. There were the hot 1/2 tons where they were low and had nice wheels. And,there were 3/4 tons that were outfitted for a purpose and dressed up a bit. There was always the snazzed-up 1 ton wreckers and all, too.Basically,it`s Chrome Reverse,Torque Thrusts,Cragars,Keystones,Chrome and Aluminum slots, and finned aluminum wheels...later Rallyes.Tires would be wide ovals, usually with white letters, tonneaus, dual pipes or side pipes, lowered some, bed rails(and more tacky, like grab handles),and they had tube grills.
Here`s my`71 CustomCamper/20 cruising "sans camper".It`s got the aluminum slots, wide on back for hauling(& good looks). The white tonneau looks good with the paint. But,it`s job is to protect the wood floor when camper is removed.Headers,duals,cam,intake...mild perfoemance to enhance hauling ability(and it`s a hot rod off-duty)...

With camper it`s nostalgic since the camper is original to the truck and original graphics painted ochre to match...

Re: nostalgic trucks...lets see em.

Here was my rig from before the CustomCamper. It had the top since back when it was new and I went for aluminum slots instead of what was out in the`80s.You could still get them until the late`80s.But,I wanted the stance and overall look to look like it could be 1973...

When I did the Blazer I went with chrome spokes and tire size/stance that would go back to the era...

This truck here is all `70s.I used the unpopular white spokes just to help it look "as is" from the`70s and to show they can look good enough in the right place...
