Hello from Nashville. I am 22 and go to school at UT. I am currently working on a 72 Jimmy. I have been reading for awhile but never bothered registering until I had pictures on my computer of the Jim. I hope to be posting often now and once I get my gas tank back in, attending events and such. I absolutely love my Jimmy and cannot wait to show it off. So, without further adieu.....? here it is.

EDIT - I need to include more about the truck

It is a 4 speed granny low, NP203 and stock posi trac rear axle that has been geared to like 3.1something. Havent checked the numbers but I believe its a 307 with edelbrock carb and I think performer intake. Has the full soft top and the bikini top, both are in pretty good condition. 31's all around, BFG mud terrains or look alikes. A small lift, maybe like 2 inches.

It was abandoned North-West of where I live, $300 and some paperwork and voila I end up with this bad boy. Not too sure the direction I want to go right now. I will probably drive it like it is and slowly try to repair the typical rust spots for now. Eventually I would either like to

A: lift it about 8 inches and put some nice 35's under it and possibly some 60's but I havent really looked into what can be made to fit under these.

B: be too much of a sissy to even scratch the body and convert it into a 2wd lowered rod.

either way I have already told my family and friends that if I ever start talking about selling it to smack me. So in the long run, i'm young and I have time to do whatever I choose to do to it.

I've had it for about 6 months now but because of school I have only been able to work on it in the past month or two. those pictures are exactly how it looked when I got it. I'll probably keep the paint like that for awhile, its ok but I really am more concerned about getting on the road than looking civilized. Right now I'm working on getting all the rust out of the tank (which im finally done with thank goodness thanks to a 3 day acid bath) and painting the wagon wheels black.

The stuff I've done so far is probably simple stuff for yall but being my first real build alot of these things are huge stepping stones for me.

I made the mistake of starting it with half old gas half new gas in a tank that I thought had been sitting for 2 years when in actuality had been sitting for 5 years and that is what most of the work so far has stemmed from (Darn you confusing Kentucky license plates!)

Once I get the fuel sending unit in the mail for the tank I should be driving.

When I actually get it out of the neighborhood it will probably be one of the more proud moments of my life so far. lol is that a good thing or bad thing?

Welcome. Good to see another project. You might find that 35" tires will look better with about 6" of lift. My 69 K20 has about 10" of lift right now and with 35" tires it looks like too much - I hope to be reducing it down once I get some free time to work on how the bbc fits in it.

You sure got that for a great price - enjoy it!

First of all,

from Oregon. You have a great start there. The soft top alone is worth more then you paid for the rig.

You have the right idea about never selling the rig. I sold my Blazer when I was your age and regretted it until I bought it back 20+ years later. Believe me, it cost more then if I would have kept it in the first place. The great thing about the the Blazer and Jimmy's is that they also make a great family rig as you get older. If you ever have a wife the tells you to sell it, just rip the top off and go for a drive together. Usually, that will end the request right there. On a side note, Yukon is right about the lift size for 35's. I am running 36's with a 6 inch lift and it about right.
