Sloppy Tilt Column
My '72 has a bit of tilt column slop in the only position that I like. How do I tighten it up?

Your ratchet mechanism is worn and there are no adjustments.

In my Monte the tilt was sloppy. I found out that there are 4 bolts (1/4 inch multi point) that needed to be tightened, Not sure if its the same on a 67-72 steering wheel. You can access them by pulling the steering wheel and taking out the turn signal switch

Hooter is right about teh later ones, but I am unsure on these older tilts.

Unfortunatly these dont use the 4 bolt design.
It does sound like the lever/ratchet is loose or has a worn tooth in your favorite spot. Is this something that just happened one day or has it gradually been getting worse over the years? |

It can be fixed. But is not a job for the inexperienced. I can do it for you. Wont cost you anything but shipping.
I have fixed several for myself. As well as one for board member DanDeluxe. Email me if you want me to fix it.
