What, and how much time, is involved in a bed swap?
How much time does it take to swap a bed on our trucks?
What all is involved? How muck fussing with wiring? It seems pretty straight forward but I thought I should ask BEFORE I get started? Thanks, Dave

the wiring harness just unplugs, a ground strap or two and eight bolts.providing the bolts are not rusted to bad and don't require cutting or grinding off you'll be ready to lift it off in a half hour maby a little longer if you run in to some stubbern bolts or a 12 pack

If it has been on there longer than about a year...have an oxy/acet ready for those stubborn bolts/nuts. You might just as well get new rubber mount bushings too, while you are at it. Don't for get the ground straps...and like 71redcheyenne said...those 4 burly guys fueled with beef and brew...LOL!

I've never had much trouble just spray pb blaster on the bolts and use a good impact!

The bolts are those square hole carriage bolts, so no power tools, or they will just spin. Use a pair of vice grips, so you can keep down pressure/tension on the bolt as you turn it. Most are not rusted bad and come off easy.
No rubber pads on factory beds. You can add them, but I don't know what they are supposed to do. Maybe quieter? |
