Heater Blower motor - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I'm in the process of installing drop spindles.Since I have the wheelwells out I decided to replace the heater core and inner fender while I was there,then I remembered the fan motor squeals and rattles(maybe not rattle after I cleaned up the heater box)so I want to replace it also.I can source the fan motor from the local parts store but haven't found a new fan cage.The one on the motor is fine but it's also plastic and I would hate to break it and have to wait to finish the repair.Does anyone have a source for one?Thanx in advance!!!

Try an 88' or so extended cab. The whole works is supposed to be like a turbo fan!

I moved the wheel on mine without a problem. You'll have to remove the nut from the shaft then hold on to the squirrel cage while tapping out the shaft with a plastic screwdriver handle.

Don't lose the washer that's on the shaft under the cage, it's required to hold the cage in alignment.

70C10 is it a direct bolt in???

I have several out of 69-70 pickups and one out of an 82 cutlass. I can't tell which is which. I might be able if I looked closely but I don't think there is much difference from one mid-full GM to another for about 20 years from the mid/late 60s.

I just checked advanceautoparts site for the PM102 number and found the motor was used from 64-thru early 90's trucks. They run around $33 new. 70GMCer pulled one on Sunday at the junkyard and the vanes on the attached cage look like a sharper angle which should help flow. I'm sure he will chime in this week!

Got the whole thing with wheel at a local yard from a 90's Chevy extended cap truck for $12 and it does have more power. It's in the vane pitch compared to the early model wheel designs.

I bought one from LMC years ago. Worked fine and it wasn't too expensive. I got new seals for the heater motor at the same time.
