Re: solid or not

Just my $.02, 2-tone. To me an all yellow truck is just tooooo much yellow.

Re: solid or not

Which color yellow? If it's the grapefruit yellow definitely two-tone. If it's a bright yellow than solid.

yes -- what he said --- but definitely keep the chrome if you 2 tone it (the chrome looks good on solids too)

Corvette Yellow....Solid!

Then brighten the interior with lots of white.

Re: solid or not

The grapefruit yellow and white is one of my favorite color combos of this era. Here's a couple of my favorites that I have saved.

Re: solid or not

I`d say with that lighter color,go two-tone.On darker colors I like solid because it makes the mouldings stand out instead of just dividing the paint.I like no mouldings with custom paint.

Re: solid or not

I would like to see some photos of solid darker yellow and keep my black interior. I'm thinking of painting mine with no trim, tried looking on the web, but could not find a 71 or 72 painted.

2-tone; I like white below the lower trim and a white top.

I dig the grapefruit yellow but the bright looks pretty god as well. I believe I would 2 tone it if it was mine.

Re: solid or not

I like solid because less trim is needed, makes it look slick!
I'd like to see a solid yellow with a painted GMC grill. Anyone have a pic of that!

Re: solid or not

I voted to two tone it. I like the way that the white breaks up the main color and it highlights the trim in my opinion. That darker yellow really looks sharp with the white! I have never seen one of these trucks two toned with that shade of yellow before. It looks great, and I don't think that you can make one of these old trucks look bad no matter what color combination you choose. The body lines on this style are way too sexy! ...Joe

Be prepared---ANY yellow will fade over time---and not a lot of time. Even the new paints in yellow---FADE. Not sure why but they DO!

Re: solid or not

I agree, it does fade, but not much (obviously) if it's in the garage most of the time. Her's my yellow '70; if I had to do it again, I would go two tone, with the chrome; it breaks up all that yellow. (It's a stock yellow from I believe '69 or '70).
