O the 224,000 engine

ok well i do believe my engine is finally done. After fixing my head gaskets after a over heating i know have major blow by. My truck will shoot oil 2 feet out of the dip stick.

If any one has any idea humor me cause im about done and this is my daily driver. If nothing else works i have a 305 that is unknow to how good it is but ill most likly do a compression test and replace valve seals. cause well the 350 :1989 tbi that now carberated is just a pain. If i had the cash id buy a new engine.

Sounds like it's time for a replacement. Search the local craigslist for a donor car/truck. Buy it cheap, use the motor and sell the parts off to make up some of the costs...

Is that 224,000 miles? Wow - that's awesome. I'd have to say that motor has performed it's duty and is probably ready for retirement. N2TRUX has some good advice there. You could probably pick up a running vehicle for $500 or less and sell off that much in parts once you're done.

On another note, my DD is a 1994 Cheyenne with a 305 TBI. I thought I was doing pretty good at 280,000 kilometres (175,000 miles). Hopefully mine will last as long as yours. It still runs like a top and doesn't burn any oil. Just goes to show you those rice burners don't have much over a Chevy small block.

you can find late model impalas or old malibu sedans with 305 and 350 motors for less than $300 all over the northeast.. prolly can find a decent cheap motor in a boneyard too id go that way if money is an issue thats the cheap way out
