ok for fuel line?

Can anyone tell me if this will work for fuel line in my truck? I was told it is fuel line, and it's the same size, just a lot beefier than regular fuel line.

Re: ok for fuel line?

Make sure that is not the cloth type steel braided hose like industrial trucks use. I can't tell from the pic, but if it is, I can tell you that gasoline will not work with it at all.

Re: ok for fuel line?

Minimize the use of rubber lines on your fuel system. Old rubber lines are a great source of leaks/fire starters.

Re: ok for fuel line?

yeah what he said i minimize rubber line usage and am a big fan of steel and aluminum fuel lines for the safety and better flow of the hard lines as well as the better looks

Re: ok for fuel line?

What do you think about braided stainless hoses from the tank to the fuel pump, and from the fuel pump to carb? Probably cost more than hard lines, but would be easier to install, and no problems with getting the bends just right. Anyone try that?

Don't think so - crappy picture but looks like conventional fuel line. Also, I know some of you guys don't like to use any rubber hose (I have read some of the old threads), but I'm hard pressed to see how this one is gonna be a problem (I insulated it with heater hose) - it's not touching anything really hot except the back of the alternator. If I developed a leak I'm thinking it would flow down and through the bottom. I plan on keeping an eye on it anyways.

Re: ok for fuel line?

(That's not a fuel line going by the motor mount from the fuel pump - it's the batterey to the starter wire)

Re: ok for fuel line?

i like that theory that the gas will just drip straight down // logic tells me with the air flow from the rad fan and altenator plus foward motion of the vehicle that potential gas leak would blow right on back onto the exhaust manifolds// i've seen the results firsthand more that once

Re: ok for fuel line?

Probably depends on the size of the hole if it ever breaks. A pin hole and it would spray, not drip!

Re: ok for fuel line?

Seeing WEATHERHEAD on it makes me automatically think hydraulic hose. However they do make fuel hose, but that I've seen was blue.

Re: ok for fuel line?

Nice looking engine---not a nice looking fuel line!
Fuel = fire...that is one of the first areas I want right & first class...not a place to cut corners.

I even put together braided/filter pump to carb kits of my local customers. If you don't want that expense, use the stock steel lines...not that much cost.

Re: ok for fuel line?

When I got my truck it had rubber from front to back (rear frame tank) & the hose was on the truck for over 20 years. I installed stock lines only because I installed a stock tank & got the lines with it.

Being careful is a good thing & offering up good safe advise is always the best, but sometimes some people go a little overboard about certain subjects...

Re: ok for fuel line?

I have been using the Weatherhead H10106 for years without any problems on custom fuel injections systems with the compatible field attachable fittings. I even made an air hose for home using the same stuff.
