You get what I mean.

Theres plenty of guys here that I would bet make a trade for it, maybe. Become a subscriber before you post a trade thread.

Anyways, sweet truck, and welcome

Re: newbie from tx

Both of those look like 50ths to me. I was gonna tell the OP that he shouldn't chop it, but then read through and realized everyone else already told him.

Both of you guys - I think you'd be surprised what some of the guys around the forum would be willing to trade for a real 50th Anniv. Edition. I would seriously pay the $25 to subscribe to the forum just to see what you can get outta those things. It's worth the $$$, even if you don't end up selling - there is a world of information in here to learn from, and that's worth the $$$ Alone. Not to mention being able to post "want to buy" ads to find parts for those hard-to-come-across trucks you got there.

Re: newbie from tx

I feel for the OP he has a hard choice ahead of him keep it and restore it right because of the rarity of it even though it is not exactly what he wants. Trade it and get what he wants maybe even a little farther along in the restore process but get rid of a truck thats been in the family for a long time. Or tell us all to stand back and watch its his truck and he will do what he likes. Good luck on the decision I will be watching to see how it comes out.

BTW everyone is right the $25 memebership is the best way to use this site and your best investment when restoring these trucks IMHO

The 551 paint code Off White / Gold and parchment interior was how all 50th trucks were.

Re: newbie from tx

That's a nice original 50th truck there texaschevy.

The 50th package was a special promotion Chevy did back in 68. It had the special gold/white paint scheme you have there. The paint code (551) tells us it's a 50th. Most of them were pretty well equipped Customs (Like yours) or CST's.

They are not really all that rare. They do add some cool factor to your truck but I'd say do what you want to it unless you find a decent truck to trade for it.
