Shipping seats?Advice?
Anyone ever shipped a set of bucket seats? Who did you use to ship them? Did you box them up or just wrap them and send them off?
I'm looking at getting a set,but trying to figure out how to get them here. |

Re: Shipping seats?Advice?
I shipped a bench seat and splint bench via Greyhound. I loosened the back so it would lie flat on the bottom and removed the seat brackets, again so everything would lie flatter. Then I wrapped it in sheet plastic. I got some discarded cardboard from a windshield place that I cut and wrapped around the seat. Duct tape, then I tied it off with heavy twine.
Oh yeah, I took digital pictures of the disassembly and printed them on paper and put them in the packages so the new owner would know how I got them apart. It got their in great shape.

Re: Shipping seats?Advice?
I shipped some 1972 bucket seats using a wardrobe box from Home Depot (about $10). Took all the brackets etc off the seats, and then turned one seat upside down onto the other. It fit perfectly, and shipping through DHL from Idaho to North Carolina was less than $50. Here is a picture of what I mean by turning one seat upside down on the other.

Re: Shipping seats?Advice?
I have shipped a couple of sets of bucket seats and all I did was band them to a pallet and use shrink wrap to cover them. I then started phoning transport companies till I found one willing to ship them at a reasonable price. With a transport company if can bring the seats to their warehouse and have them picked up at the companys warehouse at the other end its a lot cheaper and quicker too.
