Power steering bracket.
I was installing my power steering bracket and noticed this gap at the motor mount. It appears that it needs a roll pin (like what is on the alternator bracket). Does anyone know what I need? I’m pretty sure it the correct bracket. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Power steering bracket.
hmm, all mine has is the motor mount bolt going thru it. Or it would have if I hadn't forgotten to have put it in there...

Re: Power steering bracket.
I’m thinking now it might be a stud that goes there (the head of the stud fills the gap). Anyone have information on this??

Re: Power steering bracket.
I went to a guys shop here in town to look what might be missing from my brackets. And it appears that I have something completely different. Can someone confirm this? What do I need?
I’m going to look at aftermarket brackets too, so I can raise the pump a little (if I can). Thanks for the help. s/t

Re: Power steering bracket.
We sell the spacer for the 1969 camaro bracket. The truck may be the same. Its .40 id .25 thk and .730 od.
We sell all kinds of "CORRECT" GM rubber, clips ,wire ties, tape, retainers, small carb linkage clips etc. that are really hard to find, even rivets that are correct. Mike |

Re: Power steering bracket.
Here are better pictures (still a cell phone camera) but shows more of the bracket. I’m not sure what this bracket is off of, but it appears that it will work. I’m going to use a stud in the block to hold the motor mount, and nut for the brackets arm (see post #1 with arrow).
I set the pump in and checked my pulley alignment, without all my bolts in the pump it appears it will be fine. (I’m going to get a pulley puller and double check tonight). This bracket doesn’t use the old adjustment bracket that is mounted on the pump (see picture). Instead it uses the bolt hole (unpainted bolt hole in picture) on the back of the pump. I’m not sure if it sets flat against the bracket there or if I need to use a stud. (Again I’ll test fit when I get the pulley puller). If anyone knows what this bracket is off of & how this pump is supposed to be mounted LET ME KNOW!! (I’m just guessing!!) (I do know it’s not original 71-72) If I can find out what it’s off of, then I’ll be able to look it up by application to see how it mounts. Summit sells an adjustable mount for 75 bones, but not sure where the turn buckles gets mounted (possibly the water pump). But it’s billet and will need the black powder coated!! Lol. Thanks s/t

Re: Power steering bracket.
Yes, that is the correct bracket. There were two types used on these trucks, the cast one like you have (the better of the two) and the plate steel one (often cracked).
Put two 3/8 washers in that gap and go on to work on something else. If you're feeling particularly obsessive/ compulsive, paint the washers black to make them blend in. No fancy spacer needed.
