Gas Gauge Reading

Does you gas gauge drop to empty faster in the lower half? Seems like it's just sucking the gas down. Ugh, maybe I should fill it up and see what happens, LOL.

Re: Gas Gauge Reading

nahhh - thats pretty normal -- when its at 1/2 , its probably more like 30% full -- thats why it takes a while to move off of "full" too

Re: Gas Gauge Reading

I wonder why i get better gas mileage when im going 75-80 mph that when i go 65 mph. I know its gear ratio and power band stuff- does this mean my rear end is a higher ratio?

Re: Gas Gauge Reading

When mine is on empty I actually have about 3 gallons left to go.

Re: Gas Gauge Reading

Have not tested mine, better grab a can of gas to take with me. I know I drove several miles on emty
(per gauge) but got scared about running out of gas, so I'll try it when I have extra fuel just to see how far I'll go once it reachs emty. Other than that, what can I do to get better gas milage from the stock Quad?

Re: Gas Gauge Reading

Let's see...go to HEI ignition, good tires and lighter wheels, larger diameter exhaust pipe, quality intake (dump the old cast iron one) and lighter right shoe

Re: Gas Gauge Reading

mine reads 3/4 some of the time, 5/4 most of the time, and works properly once or twice a year.
