Must of hit a nerve there Wreckless. Is it the fact that I can't speeel or the deep Japanese roots of the duramax that has upset you?

There is nothing that will come between two men more than 1) women 2) politics.......AND preference of diesel engines.

Re: New (to me) Duramax...

I daily drive an 05 Duramax/Allison CC LB 4x4. I currently have 99K on the truck. I commute about 110miles a day in it and tow my blazer w/truck camper when on vacation. The truck is also a weekend family travler. I have owned it sence it was new..30miles on it when I drove it off the lot. I get about 19-20mpg hwy and about 15-16mpg while towing. I had one problem aroung 15kmiles and that was the throttle position sensor died, push on the gas pedal and nothing happens, after GM fixed that I have had Zero issues with my rig.
Love IT!

Re: New (to me) Duramax...

Wow a bunch of diesel guys here. Im semi kicking around the idea of switching my 71 4x4 3/4 ton to a duramax. Ive only just begun searching. Nothing on Craigslist yet...where would you guys suggest I find one of these?

Im also looking into brewing my own biodiesel fuel. Just getting into this too.

Kinda like a new hobby..lol

Re: New (to me) Duramax...

Late to the party as usual...

I got my 01 just over a year ago for towing and daily work truck duties, there's been a couple issue's (bad fuel one time for one) but otherwise love the truck.

I prefer the early style grills so it works for me.

Need top find a way to get the injectors changed though before I "need" too.

Currently at 135K.

Oh yeah, wheel bearings on the pass. side, drivers needs to be changed soon.

Dieselwrencher gots a cummings in his, and it's bada$$. stear clear of the Duracrap, especially if your gona' mess around with your own fuel. Check out www.azurebiodiesel.com they have kits you can set up in your shop with all the material to brew your own bio-diesel.

Go here on the net or call them and talk to Eric. http://www.gmdieseltech.com/store2/ I think he has engines and tranny's around or can locate them reasonable. This guy knows his stuff. even as bad as I dislike the idea of a hard running duramax, LOL. He has a bad a** duramax that is like 758hp at the rear wheels. He has a customer that has a crew cab short box duramax 4x4 that is dyno proven 1036hp on #2 only. That thing is just plain bad. The owner lives in Canada and daily drives the truck. Check this out: http://www.thedieselgarage.com/TOTM/mar07.htm It is one sweet ride. I heard it is for sale so if anyone has the $$$$ this is the first and only duramax over a thousand hp in the world. Unless anyone knows of one living that well.......LOL
