Radiator Support Question - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have been looking for a 67/68 Chevy radiator support for about 2 months now whithout any success, I can't even find junk ones. I'm changing my GMC over to a 67 Chevy front-end and I wanted to find an original Chevy radiator support instead of buying an aftermarket one.

I've heard people praise the aftermarket ones saying its great having a brand new no rust part, I've also heard people curse them for fitment issues.

So since I've got a whole board of experts on these trucks here what is your guys opinion? Keep looking for a used chevy one or buy an aftermarket one?

As a fellow rust belt native... I say either get aftermarket, or souething from far far away.
Even if the core support doesn't fit perfect, you can mod it a little and besides... 99% of it is hidden anyways.
Now sheet metal... I say try to stick with original.

I got mine from Early Classic. It fits pretty good, much better than the other sheet metal

Im not really worried with how it looks, just that all the bolts holes and everything line up right. If the radiator support is no good your whole front clip will be out of whack won't it?

you can make holes bigger or even oval them out to make things line up.

Thats true, okay now how about who I should buy it from. Are they all made by the same ocmpany and just distributed to all the different vendors?

Or are some better than others?

I did a lot of sorting through on the fitment of the radiator supports and found that the original supports have the bolt holes in the same disoriented places as the aftermarket one that I had on my shop floor. The radiator top mount bracket holes were off about a 1/4" and the brackets set on it at a slight angle. I fixed that and now the support and the brackets are true to the other side. In bold words the originals are not perfect either.
