Look here. Not all bolts are torqued by the location. Most can be torqued by the size and thread. If the bolt passes through and is nutted on the other side or goes into steel, use the chart. For engine specific bolts see the manufacturer specs.

Great looking truck! Everyonce in a while I'll see a nice longbed like yours and think I should have left my stock bed on my truck - luckily I have my bed saved.

Good looking truck!!! Sounds like you got a deal!
Anyway, check the water level in the radiator. I was low in a truck years ago, and the temp gauge was all over the place going to work that day. Filled it up & never saw it happen like that again.

Water (coolant) level is fine. Temp gauge pegs within a coupleof minutes now, so I'm pretty sure the sender is bad. Time for the ohmmeter and boiling water test. Anyone have the resistance levels at ambient and boiling for the stock sender?

Welcome and Great Truck! The resistance readings are in the Haynes manual in one section there. Can't remember them off the top of my head and the manual is at home. Keep the pics coming! Jeff.

Sold my pride and joy some months ago, decided I wanted a full size truck for those jobs the SSR wasn't quite up for and spend about 2 months looking for the right truck. Now it's here.

That has got to be one of the nicest Corvairs I`ve seen.Ahhh...going away shots,how bittersweet?Is that a pair of Webers?When I was young a friend`s dad was a Corvair restoration nut.Good old Waldo gave me a 140 horse motor to put in my`66 VW bus.I know that`s sacriledge to a Corvair buff.But,this was in`75 and things were different.

Have funny going over all the little minor things you find.Always the first step when getting a driver.

Thx.. yes Webers (40 IDAs), lots of head work (I mean lots!), punched out to 3.1 liters (190 cu in) but that's all history now. It was a blast on the autocross course with the slicks

Transfer case is coming out Sat as is the windshield (cracked), steering box, and doors apart to fix the locks. Going through the brakes during the downtime as well. May go through the trans since I'll be apart that far. Should be up and running in about 3 weeks depending on parts availability. Good thing Classic Industries is right down the street.

I guess you have a Dana60 rear.I may have read that some had the corporate HO52,like Chevys.Thw brake parts are at Napa if not found elsewhere.

60 rear 44 front.

Between NAPA and Classic Ind I should be covered for most things. Biggest issue will be getting the trans to transfer case adapter welded or finding a replacement...

Sometimes motors get swapped, and the coolant gauge gets plugged into a temp switch instead of a gauge sender....
