Alternator Adjustment ? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I was changing an alt. today and was wondering which of my trucks has the right set up. (stock brackets)The adjusting bracket on the top of the alt,(With the long groove) Is it supposed to be in front or behind the alt or I'll ask another way. Does the adjusting bolt head go in front or back of the alt? Any help would be appreciated.

I dont know who this truck belongs to. It is a 71-72 it looks right to me.

Thats how my Cheyenne super looks. When I took the bolt out and let it drop it (the bracket)popped back almost behind the alt so I went and looked at my super and it was just like your pic. so I put it that way.I think it is right. Thank You for replying. Chuck.

mine is in front on my 71 c-10 with 307
