Long or short water pump?
Does a 70 blazer/truck with a 350 have a long or short water pump. Does anyone have a picture of a stock set up?

Re: Long or short water pump?
short water pump was used from 1955 to 1967 along with the canister type oil filter and small journal size crankshaft's , in 1968 they went to a spin on oil filter long waterpump and big journal crank , so the correct answer for a 1970 350 is it came from the factory with the long waterpump ,

Re: Long or short water pump?
GM was always a little behind on trucks because back then more of a commercial use vehicle than they are now. Cutting edge technology was less of a concern for most trucks buyers, and GM took measures to keep the reputation of their trucks as being very reliable. It's the same reason that while '67 model cars got 350's as option, they waited until '68 to put them in trucks. The short water pump set-up was tried and true and they probably wanted to field test them in cars first.

Re: Long or short water pump?
trucks didn't get 350s till 69 actually.
The vette used the short pump for quite a few years after the trucks stopped using them. |
