Cost of power steering upgrade?
Hey guys, i was wonderin if someone could help me out with this. I like the fact aht the steering in my truck is original, but it is really not ideal for all the tight parking lots around here. I wanted to do an upgrade to power steering. I have a 250 I6 and the trucks a c 10. I was wonderin if anyone who has maybe done this recently could tell me how much in total it would be to make the conversion, appreciate it....and how bout' a pic or two....

Re: Cost of power steering upgrade?
Plan on spending from up to $200.00=low side all used parts, to $500.00=all new parts.

Re: Cost of power steering upgrade?
Here is something else that no one ever seems to mention. When you install the rez kit, it pushes the new gearbox out of alignment of the steering shaft by at least 1/2''. I did not like that at all, so I ended up buying a double ujoint to compensate for the difference, at the cosy of $135.00, but at least now the shaft is not constantly being stressed, and the rag joint should last much longer.

Re: Cost of power steering upgrade?
dudes! wow a extra $135 for a steering u-joint to use a "bolt-on" kit. i have read about these kits for along time and this is the first time reading about it. welding in a later model frame section is what i usually do and its a fair amount of work and time wise it might cost more that a "bolt on" kit but it's done correctly. seems like wheels are the only thing that truely are "bolt on"
