Shorten steering collum?
Greetings all,
Whats the deal with getting some space fpr my belly in my 66'? Is it easier to buy a kit collum, have the stock unit cut down, or replace with another model? Thanks!

Re: Shorten steering collum?
I'm using a van column from my donor G30 cab. Preliminary measurements are looking like about 3 1/2 - 4 inches shorter. I am also using the small evaporator core and heating ducts, switches etc from the van to add on air. Jerry

Re: Shorten steering collum?
A 67-72 tilt column would work, that would give you some room by tilting it.

Re: Shorten steering collum?
I don't really want to go to a tilt because I like the old style look. I just want to get it about 3" closer to the dash. I heard there is a coupling available somewhere to join the shaft back together after cutting, any thoughts?

HEY!!! I resemble that remark I'm going with an IDIDIT tilt column in my 60. You can special order a tilt column that doesn't move the grip location (as they call it) back toward the driver as regular IDIDIT titl columns do. I believe there is also a short streering wheel adaptor for aftermarket wheels to move to closer to the dash as well.
