i have the door panels off and i have tried pulling the mechanism from the inside but no luck....

i might have to do it like the dukes of hazard and go through the window!

if you have the drivers door panel off take 10 minutes to watch and study the movements of the lock mechanism and compare the passenger lock movements. couple of key things is patience and light, don't force it. in the end you will have learned something: how the door latch operates! good luck.
