Talking i get my truck back tomorrow

well i get it back tomorrow. this is what they are changing:
THE CASE, it was all busted.
the front pump
the torque converter
i believe the input and the out put shaft.
and then all the goodies he put in the first time.

well he couldnt determine what actually caused it, but he is pretty sure it was the U-JOINT, there was one cap missing, i could have came off and that cause the hole drive train to go bazerk.

anyway we are splitting the cost and he is just charging me for parts and he is eating the labor. oh well, i do believe it was out of warranty, but this guy puts his name on his work and he dont want any bad business. I CAN REAKLLY APPRECIATE THAT, you dont find that in these days.

Sounds pretty good Jeff. He could have stuck you with the whole bill if he had wanted to be an a$$ about it. Seems he may be a decent fellow.

How much did it cost you the first time and this time? Trying to get estimates of what mine might cost. I think i'm gonna need all those goodies too...hehe

1300.00 the first time and 400.00 this time. if you do have a tranny shop do it then take them a new U-JOINT and have them put it in. that way if something goes wrong at least they cant blame it on the installation of the U-JOINT.

Good deal, you got lucky. Now spend that other $400 on some new parts!

well its back after SEVERAL trips to the parts store for U-JOINTS, oh BTW had to change my drive shaft. its seems that when it blew and the one u-joint cap came off, it bent the craddle that the u-joint cap goes in, so new drive shaft. well the ONLY one i could find was off an 84 and it had the smaller u-joints so i had to get those and then i had to go back to get the conversion u-joint that thw new small caps and the old large caps, man that was a major PITA. well its back home safe and sound. i think there is something fixed that wasnt before because now i can feel it down shift when i roll up to a stop light.it almost feels like a standard shift down shifting but smooth. it is still as strong as before and still breaks the tires loose on gear change and passing gear engage and dis-engage. maybe even easier

BTW if yall are ever changing drive shafts on a LWB dont get one for a suburban, they are about 2 inches to short. i even found a drive shaft that was about 2 inches longer than my original, i wonder what that came off of. the guy said i really dont know, i have alot of trucks out here.

real good G, i think they done something they didnt before because now when i roll up to a stop light i can feel it down shift, almost like a standard shift but smoother.

yea well i thought i was having anther problem with it. it kinda felt like the output shaft or something had to much play, it just felt like it had some slop. i took it back and the guy checked it ad said he cant find anything wrong and everything tight.
oh well i think maybe it is just the ride quality, i cant wait to get the regular MOOG bushings back on the front end. may even put regular MOOG bushings in the rear springs. i guess im just getting old and want that comfort ride. BUT STILL NEED THE PERFORMANCE
