3/4 ton to short stepside conversion

Looking at converting the truck over to short stepside here this summer. Iv'e got a bed lined up and should be picking it up saturday. From then on its just a question of getting it all ready and painted and then taking a couple of days off in the summer to do the frame cutting and welding. and splicing the exhaust.

So...

If you guys were to do it what would you do about the driveshaft? Two piece with a shortened second shaft ? Or one piece coming straight out of the 4speed? I'm assuming that is possible.

I want to get all the contingencies accounted for before I get started so theres no running all over town . I'd like to get it all done in a day if possible.

i think a lot of guys on here would agree, 1 piece driveshaft without a doubt. also dont forget about exhaust, brake lines, gas line if you have a tank under the box, wiring to your brake lights will be a couple feet to long..ummm these are no brainers but just incase you miss one, im in the process of a simiallar situation so im just naming what ive done,

The shaft would be plenty short enough to go 1 pc, & do away with tha center bearing "headache". As far as cutting the frame, on the coil trucks the best place to cut would be under the cab leaving the trail arm crossmember intact with the frame. then just moving the rear cab mounts back a ft. To run a 2 pc shaft, this should leave the rear half same lenght, & the front half will be shorter.......
