trans.?

I've got a t56 trans. that I'm going to put in my truck and had a ? about the placement of the shifter, because I'm still using the factory 6cyl. mounts that puts the motor back and down a little from where the v8 mounts would put the motor. Will the shifter be back to far to make work?

I've already got a clutch and flywheel, so this will be going into the truck, just trying to see what others thought about the placement with the inline 6 mounts. I know that the t56 shifter placement is back more than other trans.

edit: I forgot to add that the motor is a SBC and TH400 transmission now.
