Blazer or Cheyenne Super SWB Stepside? Pics.

Hello All, I am thinking about selling either the 1972 Cheyenne Super SWB Stepside or the 1972 K5 Blazer. Both of these are in original factory condition, the truck has one re-paint and the blazer is completely original. Which one would be a better long term investment if I ever do a frame off restoration? Both have A/C and very little rust. I like them both, but if I want to get something else (GTO, OLDS, Camaro, etc...) I need to sell one due to space, etc... Which one would you keep? Its almost like choosing between two beautiful women Decisions...Decisions UGH! Opinions welcomed, thanks.

Re: Blazer or Cheyenne Super SWB Stepside? Pics.

I'd keep the blazer..and keep it 4wd.More and more long bed trucks are being cut down every month and made into short beds...more and more 67-72 swb trucks are around than there ever were..Blazers and Jimmys are a breed of their own though. You can't take a common truck like 67-72 long beds and cut them down, and do some body work and make them into swb trucks like everyone else is doing. You pretty much need to start with a blazer/jimmy..and more and more are sadly becoming 2wd so the 2wds (converted or original) which were much rarer are being as common or more common than 4wd Blazers/Jimmys

Build an addition to the garage and keep them both, impossible decision to make, because they are both a favorite style of mine... glad I don't have to choose

IMO, the Blazer has more value and will appreciate greater than the PU. There were a lot fewer Blazers produced than pickups thus making the value greater. A stock blazer in good condition can easily fetch $10,000-$15,000.

Re: Blazer or Cheyenne Super SWB Stepside? Pics.

Thanks guys, I am liking the Blazer a little bit more. I also agree that since more and more people are cutting up LWB trucks, Blazers will be worth more in the long run. heck, I can always build another garage like jaros said. Thanks guys, I like them both. But the Blazer with the "convertible" look/way is pulling ahead. However, Longhorn man says that possibly only 500-1000 Cheyenne Super SWB Stepsides were ever made. Hmmmm, decisions, decisions. Thanks all.

Definitely keep the blazer but if you must sell it I want the first rights to denial. I would love to own it so keep me in my mind if you decide to sell it but since i'm positive you won't I don't htink it will be an issue so get rid of the stepside.

I agree, keep the blazer.

IMO it has the better resale value also.
Maybe there where only 500-1000 swb's made but that still won't make it as desirable as a stock blazer.

Bummer your thinking about selling though...your "Look What Followed Me Home" thread isn't even a month old yet.

Remember that excitement when your trying to decide which one.

Re: Blazer or Cheyenne Super SWB Stepside? Pics.

Thanks guys esp. vtblazer. I did just get the Blazer and thats why I would most likely keep it over the truck. But the Cheyenne Super is ALSO nice. The only reason I thought about selling one or another is because I was considering buying a 1969 Camaro, one on eBay, item # 110190360561. I think I'll keep the money in the bank and just keep them both, I LIKE them both. Here is a pic of what I wanted to buy.

Camaro's are a dime a dozen IMO. Heck, they're even reproducing the early Camaros now. That can't help the value (or desirableness) of the Camaro. Keep the Truck and the blazer. Buy something shiny for both of them and then take them for a ride on a sunny day.

If you have that itch to just get something new and different. But then need to get rid of something because of space, why don't you just trade in that Ford fx4 thats in the pics of you haulin' in the Blazer. You could go get a nice new 3/4 ton tow vehicle, haha. Or a new old one......

Thats the perfect truck.

I wouldn't say they are a dime a dozen, but they are more common than a 4x4 K5.

If you are going to buy a Camaro, and want a "driver" that isn't a matching numbers, original car, then have at it. If you want a survivor, an original car, then PLEASE spend some time researching, and ask the guys over on the Team Camaro forums; they live to point out cloned cars selling under "100% original" claims. I bought my '69 Z/28 after several first gen guru's combed over it. I'd known the owners of the car back to about 1988, when these cars were $5k and nobody even bothered to clone. Nowadays, BUYER BEWARE. If I were to do it over again, I'd buy what you are looking at. Nice driving, nice looking car with NO claims of originality....just a car to enjoy.

I agree with the others, keep the blazer. Know how tough it is to find a nice 4x4 67-72, let alone a 4x4 blazer? Hands down the better investment.

Re: Blazer or Cheyenne Super SWB Stepside? Pics.

Thanks guys, LOL Big J on the FX4 comment I guess if I had to sell one, it would be the truck. The more I sit in the Blazer, the more I like it. Even the doors close perfectly! All original, nice! VTkidder I agree too many Camaros claim to be original, blah, blah, blah too many clones and prices for an original are crazy ever since Barret-Jackson came on the scene, unreal prices. I do agree I see fewer Blazers than Camaros and classic trucks. I also truly like the convertible aspect of the Blazer, my two young boys are already claiming it and they are only 3 and 8 yrs old. The eBay one is nice, but the Blazer is only original once as they say.

Big J beat me to it but I still say sell the Ford in your signature. Heck, I would say to do that if you had all the room in the world. Sorry, couldn't resist saying it.
