Talking May I take the Podium......

Well My Christmas break is almost over, got lots of work done to my 'Beast' as my freind calls it. Picked my Girlfreind up for the first time ever in Rusty and had her dad help me with the brakes. I constructed my own glove box with some roofing tin and rivets....looks good. Helped my dads old freind put in all new front end parts. Idler arm, pitman arm, tie rod ends and ball joints. those parts were my X-Mas gift from my folks..instead of a new carburator. Learned how to grease up the front hub bearings. Yesterday before I left town I went over to my girls and had my truck parked infont of her house...together with my truck, we had almost the entire history of Chevy Trucks right on that corner house!! It was a sight....made me feel good....a 2000, a 95, two 63's, two 87's and my 68. Repainted my ralleys a slate grey color. I apreciate my truck alot.....i've put a lot of time and money, as my dad has done as well with me.....it feels good that Its finally running and usable.....still got some more work though before my paint job.....but thats later I'll have some more pics from about a month ago. Later ya'll!!!!! If you want free parts from a Salvage yard, take some shrimp soup with you!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds like fun Swing, the most fun part is the building of the trucks IMHO. I am wanting to to some different things on my truck but will wait a few more years before i do.

Roger, great to hear you're back on the road. Take a pic of the "Chevy history corner" too.

....a few more dollars????? You mean that you can tell how much it is going to cost you to keep YOUR truck? Whoa, dude. You're good.

I paid too much for mine at the git-go, and have continued to pour money in it. But, on a fixed income, being retired, and old, well, I have to drive old trucks. It's just not right to drive a new truck...except for my wifes' 2000 Tundra. I find that I spent just as much money, or more, keeping my '96 SilverDollar on the road when I was working, as it does to make payments on the Tundra and keep the '69 rollin'.

I figure that I will have somewhere around about, almost, nearly as much in my '69 (when it is done) as a new 'un costs today. So, I figure I may have to spend another $20,000 on it before I'm done. It oughta be nice, tho.

Glad you had a good Christmas. Oh, glad to hear that your girlfriend is still ridin' with you. Some of them have absolutely NO SENSE OF HUMOR! When I was younger, I think I remember when that was, any girl I went out with already knew what I drove. Only problem was ME. I wanted something else. Maybe that is why I have owned over 100 vehicles, and driven them, in my 37+ years of driving.

Right on...

This break, I put a second-row seat out of a 1999 Suburban in my truck, along with some badly needed A/C vent balls and housings...oh, and LED taillights Gave it a wash and wax yesterday...

It's kinda creepy, seeing the list of things I have / want to do to that truck get shorter...it's down to new carpet for the interior, covering the dash pad, putting in the A/C hoses I've had sitting around forever, a new bottom end and cam for the engine, and maybe fuel injection. Scary...of course, it's taken four-plus years to get this far and it'll probably take four years to get that much further.

Strangely enough...if it wasnt for my girlfreinds '63 stepside, I wouldn't have rusty.....but she still laughs.....a lot actually....like my carb is bad which leads to frequent stops.....so she always jokes about me getting stuck somewhere...
