Blazer conversion "Front suspension" question

Is the front suspension on a 71-72 the same width wise as a 73 - 87? The 71-72 from what i have heard will simply "bolt-up". I was under the assumption that 73+ will fit, but I am concerned that the frame width wont be the same. I dont have access to 73 for measurements.
